Poro: A Treasure of the Camotes Islands

Located in the northeastern part of Cebu Province, Poro is a coastal municipality on Poro Island, one of the islands that make up the scenic Camotes group. Established on December 17, 1701, Poro is among the oldest municipalities in Cebu. Over the centuries, it has preserved its rich cultural heritage while adapting to the needs of a modern and growing community.

As of the 2024 census, the municipality has a population of 26,908 people spread across 17 barangays. Fishing, farming, and tourism remain important contributors to the local economy, sustaining the livelihood of many residents and supporting the municipality's continued development.
